Work introduction
This ceramic plaque, created by traditional craftsman Yamada Yoshiaki, brings together the best of traditional crafts.
The main subject of the work is the camellia, which blooms majestically in the silence of winter, and the adorable sparrows that gather around it. Yamada's most distinctive feature, his delicate brushwork, is beautifully expressed in the soft texture of the sparrows' feathers, which make it seem as if you can hear them chirping at any moment, and the gradation of the camellia's petals, woven from deep red and pure white. While using the traditional colors of Kutani ware, the modern composition, which makes use of white space, adds a dignified elegance to the space.
"Camellia and Sparrows," which combines the history of Kutani ware with the artist's refined sensibility, is a supreme work of art that we can confidently recommend not only for your home but also as a special gift for someone special.
