Work introduction

Commentary

This ceramic panel painting of flowers and birds is full of presence, depicting a dignified camellia and a vibrant jade kingfisher. The deep-colored camellia leaves and red and white camellia flowers emerge three-dimensionally in the clean white space of the white porcelain, and the blue-green plumage of the jade kingfisher perched on the end of the branch adds a refreshing accent to the tranquil picture.
Artist Yoshiaki Yamada is a master of bird and flower painting who combines traditional Kutani ware techniques with a modern sensibility, specializing in delicate line drawings and intricate color paintings. In this work, the shadows of each camellia petal, the glossiness of the leaves, and the fine speckles on the jade feathers are all meticulously painted, giving the piece a sense of life, as if it could take flight from the branch at any moment. The combination of the camellia, which blooms majestically even in the cold of winter, and the jade, which lives in clear streams, is a motif that symbolizes the Japanese aesthetic, which combines serenity and strength.
The frame is a sophisticated silver frame combined with a subdued vermilion cloth mat, further enhancing the white of the ceramic panel and the color of the motif. The clean, vertical silhouette gives the work rhythm, and the design looks great in both Japanese-style rooms and modern interior spaces. Displaying it in a place that draws attention, such as the entrance, living room, reception room, or store entrance, will add a refined Japanese accent to the entire space.
This is a perfect item for your home or as a special gift.
