Work introduction

Commentary

This dynamic bird-and-flower masterpiece by traditional craftsman Yoshiaki Yamada depicts vibrantly autumnal maple leaves and a jadeite bird in dynamic flight. Multiple vibrant blue-green jadeite birds fly across a white porcelain panel, surrounded by maple leaves in a gradation from deep green to red, creating a refreshing composition that evokes the autumn breeze. The intricate detail of each vein in the autumn leaves, applied using the Kutani ware color painting technique, and the flapping movement of the jadeite bird give the piece a vitality that makes it hard to believe it is a still image.

Yoshiaki Yamada is a master craftsman who, while carrying on the traditions of Kutani ware, expresses flowers and birds with his own unique sensibility, earning him acclaim at exhibitions such as the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. In "Maple and Jade," the realistic shape and lustrous texture of the maple leaves, as well as the sharp beak and mottled color of the jadeite feathers, are reproduced with meticulous brushwork, highlighting the beautiful colors that combine the splendor of the autumn leaves with the vividness of the jadeite. Maples are deeply rooted in Japanese culture as a symbol of autumn, and jadeite is considered an auspicious bird due to its jewel-like brilliance. This combination symbolizes the harmony of vibrant energy and the richness of the changing seasons.

The sophisticated gold frame and deep blue cloth mat create an elegant finish that further enhances the vivid colors of the artwork, and the vertical form gives it a modern impression. It can be used in a variety of scenes, such as living rooms, dining rooms, hallway walls, and store display windows, and will add a seasonal and luxurious feel to any space.

This is a wonderful item that we recommend not only for your home, but also as a special gift or souvenir.
