Work introduction
Kutani colored enamel instantly dominates the atmosphere. Mitsui Tamekichi III "No. 12 decorative plate: Pine, bamboo, plum and bird"
This decorative plate has an overwhelming presence that instantly elevates the atmosphere. This is a work by the third generation Mitsui Tamekichi. The five colors (red, yellow, green, purple, and indigo) unique to Kutani ware are expressed with the deep hues that Tamekichi is known for, giving it a strong presence as a work of art that transcends the boundaries of mere craftsmanship. The vibrant colors with a sense of weight that are reminiscent of Ko-Kutani and Yoshidaya are also stunning. The beloved motif of pine, bamboo, and plum is depicted like a landscape painting, and the surrounding area is filled with classical patterns, creating a highly aesthetically pleasing composition. The blank space in the center gives a pleasant sense of depth.
The third generation, Tamekichi Mitsui, has established a style that combines the traditions of Ko-Kutani with modern sophistication. This work also features a traditional design, but the clever combination of patterns gives it a modern impression, making it a masterpiece. The splendor of the colors he arrived at after many years of research is also noteworthy. The lustrous, deep colors are reminiscent of the era of Ko-Kutani and Yoshidaya.
This is the pinnacle of the tradition of overglaze painting that Kutani ware is proud of. Please enjoy the profound beauty of the works of the third generation Mitsui Tamekichi to your heart's content.
