Work introduction

Commentary

This is Taka Satoshi's "Plate with Gold Brocade Flowers."
Taka Sobun is one of the few contemporary artists who has inherited the painting style of the master Kutani Shozo, who was active from the late Edo period to the Meiji period.
Shoza Kutani's painting style was a mastery of Kutani ware decorative techniques, including the gorgeous "Colored Kinrande" that makes extensive use of vivid colors and gold, the "Red-painted Saiseki" that is meticulous in just one color of red, and the "Meticulous Depiction" that depicts flowers, birds, people, and landscapes with delicate brushstrokes. Shoza's Kutani ware was highly praised and gained popularity overseas, and is said to have led the trend of Japonism.
Artists who have inherited Shozo's style of painting in the present day are extremely rare. This is because it is a world that cannot be achieved without mastering all of Kutani ware's decorative techniques. Among them, Taka Satoshi stands out for his technical precision and expressive power, and has produced many works with a high level of artistic perfection. I once had the opportunity to see him paint, and was amazed by the speed of his brushstrokes and the beauty of the finished product. Every time I see his work, I am amazed by the ingenuity of his composition and the high level of his sense.
This piece is a pedestal plate made to serve as a lid. A pedestal plate is a tall plate with legs. Both the lid and the plate are densely decorated with gorgeous and intricate flowers, and gold paint adds a touch of elegance. The intricate composition and richness of color are overwhelming, yet there is a quiet elegance to it. The colors of the painting are beautiful, and it is so comfortable that you will want to gaze at it for a long time.
He is involved in everything from the shape to the design of his vessels, and by painting on completely custom-made bases, he creates one-of-a-kind pieces. This piece also has a unique shape and a very memorable finish.
This is a work of such high quality that it would be worthy of being exhibited at a solo exhibition, and it has been specially donated to us for this occasion, making it a truly precious masterpiece.
