A New Traditional Beauty Captivating Through the Fusion of Indigo and Overglaze Enamel

A highly accomplished artist who studied under Yamamoto Choza of Myosen ToBo—an official kiln supplier to the Imperial Household Agency—and thoroughly mastered the pinnacle of underglaze cobalt blue (sometsuke) techniques. Building upon traditional mastery, Miura Terutada creates distinct designs that harmonize beautifully with modern living spaces.

His signature achievement lies in his ultra-fine, highly detailed brushwork, most notably "Seika Kosai" (Blue and Red Enamel)—a style fusing the deep indigo of underglaze blue with the vivid, glossy colors of traditional Kutani Gosai enamels. Executed with a precision so minute it seems almost impossible to achieve without a magnifying glass, his intricate lines overwhelm beholders with awe.

(Heisei 12)		 Exhibited and selected for the Traditional Kutani Ware Crafts Exhibition for the first time (subsequently selected consecutively).
2003
(Heisei 15)		 Established his own studio, Ginsen Kiln, to begin independent ceramic production.
2004
(Heisei 16)		 Received the Ishikawa Traditional Crafts Skill Encouragement Award.
Exhibited and selected for the Nomi City Art Exhibition for the first time.
2006
(Heisei 18)		 Selected for the Crafts Open Competition at the Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Great Tea Ceremony.
2009
(Heisei 21)		 Certified as a Traditional Craftsman by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
2011
(Heisei 23)		 Exhibited and selected for the Ishikawa Traditional Crafts Exhibition for the first time.
